The Houston area Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Political Action Committee held a cruise on Clear Lake to thank the legislators that have aided ABC in their efforts. In addition to corporate representatives from PAC Members Austin Industrial, Baker Concrete, Cajun Contstructors, ISC, E.E. Reed, Gilbane Building, Holes Inc, Jacobs Engineering, Marek Brothers, Mobil Steel, Ref-Chem, Spawglass and The Shaw Group there were a dozen or so state and local politicians on board as well. In attendance were State Rep Tim Kleinschmidt, State Rep Wayne Smiter, State Rep Charlie Howard, State Rep Randy Weber, State Rep Alma Allen, Stare Rep Ken Legler, State Rep Al Edwards, State Rep Debbie Riddle, Houston City Councilwoman Toni Lawrence, Jersey Village Mayor Russell Hamley, Pasadena City Councilman Steve Cote and Pasadena City Councilman John Moon. The event would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Mike Gremillon and Christina Stone.
The event was hel on the Clear Lake cruise ship The FantaSea. The three hour tour (no Gilligan’s Island here!) was peaceful and entertaining. A surprisingly rich buffet was served while on the Lake and several key legislators were recognized during the awards ceremony for their voting record on critical ABC issues. Many of the corporate employees were able to get some rare and valuable one on one time with their elected officials. Everyone on board had a great time and the politicians enjoyed the quality time with their constituents.
