About a year ago, a friend of mine who lives in Austin told me about an organization that reaches out to at-risk teens and provides assistance right where the need is greatest. The organization is The Grace Foundation and I was pretty excited to hear that they were coming to the Houston area. Saturday night, the Grace Foundation held their Houston “debutante ball” at Warehouse Live with music provided by Patrice Pike. While Patrice belted out a great short set, Artist Rolando Diaz literally took a blank canvas and created a work of art in a short 8 song set. Really impressive and beautiful. His work is displayed around the globe and a documentary about his life and career titled Recapturing Cuba won two awards at the Sundance Film Festival. The best part was the painting was auctioned off as the cornerstone piece during the live auction – while it was still wet! Great food provided by Berryhill and the whole production was managed by SpotOn Public Relations. Dish-Houston blog was an event sponsor and helped get the word out. The Grace Foundation really sunk some roots in Houston tonight. Take a peek at the event in the shots below.
