Maidie’s Downtown Houston Photo Shoot

We’ve known Madie a long time.  We’ve done a few projects with her over the years, but never anything for her personally.  We were juiced when she called us to do a full bore super session outdoors and in the studio.  We picked a weekend to work around her schedule, but we were really nervous about the location for the session since the Final Four is in town.  We knew heading toward Rice University and Reliant Stadium was out.  Hermann Park is not an option on ANY weekend, so we checked into Memorial Park – another bust.  They were having a Final Four event in the park on Saturday.  We knew we’d be able to get around most stuff by heading to the edge of downtown and using Buffalo Bayou just outside of downtown near the Sabine Street Bridge.  We called Maidie with the plan and she was at the studio at 10:00 sharp and ready to roll.

We loaded up and headed downtown.  Found a few awesome backgrounds under the bridges near the edge of downtown and included the walk bridge across Buffalo Bayou also.  We packed up and headed to Eleanor Tinsley Park to get down by the water’s edge with downtown as the backdrop.  It was an overcast day, so our portable light stands came in handy to add some additional key light to Maidie using the sun as a highlight in the backgound where possible.  We then loaded up and headed back to the studio to get some incredible shots of Maidie in her ridiculously flattering black dress.  We shot a great series and have a surprise for her when she comes to the studio to proof the images.

Take a look at the short YouTube video filmed behind the scenes during Maidie’s photo shoot below.

We promised Maidie a sneak peek, so here are a few of our favorites from the session.  Our Spring calendar is filling quickly.  Give us a shout and let’s plan your “rock star” photo shoot!
