Last night at Hobby Center’s Zilkha Hall, Masquerade Theatre kicked off their world premier of the new musical Galveston! to a sold out house. In fact, the entire run has sold out through October 9th. The musical is a fun historical perspective of Galveston’s past. Most notably, it covers the Balinese Room and the two brothers, Salvatore and Rosario Maceo, who molded it into a place where you could gamble, buy a drink during prohibition and even catch Frank Sinatra belt out a few tunes. It was a place where vice ruled the day and even inspired the ZZ Top song by the same name.
I was asked to shoot the backstage actor prep and the guests arriving in the lobby of Zilkha Hall for opening night. The lobby was a virtual Who’s Who of Houston and Galveston socialites. Take a look at a few of the images below to see for yourself. Let STP Images know if you have an event coming up that needs outstanding photographic coverage. We want to hear from you!
